Helping people to better tell their stories has been a passion of mine for the last several years. Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing the young stars at the AA4K Studios Student Short Film Premiere. It was an amazing evening that began with a step and repeat outside the Downtown San Juan Capistrano Regency Theatre.
The students were pros on the red carpet and it was an absolute joy to chat with them. I believe it is important for children as well as adults to have the chance to reflect on their experiences and to express what it means to them.
Host, Wayne Frazier joined me as we spoke to the kids about what they liked best working on their films Desperate Times & Gypsy Robes and Weirdo’s Welcome. They told us their favorite parts about playing their characters and how it felt to be on the red carpet. The students shared what they learned in their classes at AA4K Studios and how that prepared them to work on set. We also found out that from this experience, some of them are interested in other aspects of filmmaking in addition to acting. The kids in the films, who ranged in age from 7-14 years old, were part of a 5 month on camera acting program run by Brian Stevens who also wrote and directed the comedic films. The curriculum of this program includes learning acting fundamentals such as listening truthfully and auditioning as well as working in front of the camera and behind the scenes on a short film.
As a result of working as a professional host, I have the opportunity to meet new people and help them to tell their unique stories. It was really great to get to talk to the future of the entertainment industry! I am grateful that I was able to be a part of it and I look forward to seeing what happens next with this program and these very talented students.
